Advice for the test takers....

Please help by adding a comment with a quick overview of how you prepared for the NCLEX. I think it might be of help to our friends who have to re-take, or who are still yet to take the test.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone -

I studied by reading the Kaplan Review Book, I also did the practice exam in the Kaplan book and on the CD that came with it. I did the questions on the NCSBN website and some of the ERI questions (I personally did not find ERI to be of any value...)I also looked up Rx and some diseases that I got questions on and didn't know about. I also did the Rx Memory game on the website that Kristi B sent out.

I personally found the Kaplan book to be of the most help. It really made me approach and evaluate the questions from a better angle. It was a super easy read too - didn't feel like I was reading a big text book style book.

practice, practice, and more practice. And when you're comparing your answers with the "key" look at the rationale whether you got the questions correct or not. When I was reviewing, I was doing 100-150 quastions qday. And trashed ERI book!

hey everyone,
I studied the kaplan book and did the questions and the cd. I also did the book on priorties and delegation. I did the NCSBN site. I also did the rn nclex notes. what helped me the most was the site and nclex rn notes . the rn notes had the meds summarized into categories with side effects and teaching, it also had a peds ,ob, psych and med surg all summarized and was easier to read and understand. i would to do as many questions as you can and go over all the rationle, this hepled me the most.I did do eri but insted of helping it confused me more. good luck to all those who haven't taken it, just don't get nervous.

Hello
I used the ERI PreRN review book in combination with my Med/Surg books to review my weak areas. I also used the NCSBN website. I purchased 3 weeks. The most helpful part was the Pre-test. I was able to find my weakest areas. Also, the last section of this website "Test Your Knowledge" helped tremendously because it provided rationales as I took the test. I hope this helps... ANN

I did the NCSBN website for 3 weeks which was so helpful because I was able to recognize my weak areas. I also would do almost 200 practice questions a day and look at the rationales. I also liked the Kaplan review book because it helped me break down the questions so I could understand how to come up with the correct answer. Nursing Made Incredibly Easy NCLEX review book was also a good resource because it summarized various diseases with its treatments. I had almost 12 books that I would study constantly so just try to find a resource that works for you. Good Luck!!!!
